Born from a Vision
to Transform Healthcare

Oak Specialist Hospital was founded in 2005 by a group of dedicated Ghanaian medical professionals who believed that world-class specialist healthcare should not require a flight to Accra or abroad. Starting from a modest clinic in Nhyiaeso, Kumasi, the hospital was built on the conviction that every Ghanaian family deserves dignified, expert care close to home.

Over two decades, we have grown into Kumasi's leading multi-specialist hospital — with over 40 consultant physicians, a dedicated IVF and Fertility Centre, modern surgical suites, and a 24/7 emergency unit. Our journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, and investment in the very best medical technology available in West Africa.

Today, Oak Specialist Hospital serves over 50,000 patients annually — from routine family consultations to complex surgical cases and fertility treatments — always guided by our founding commitment: to provide care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, and deeply humane.

Growth & Achievement

From a single clinic to Kumasi's most respected specialist hospital — every milestone reflects our commitment to better care.

2005

The Foundation

Oak Specialist Hospital opens its doors in Nhyiaeso, Kumasi — founded by Dr. Emmanuel Boateng and a team of five specialists with a shared vision for accessible, high-quality care in the Ashanti Region.

2008

First Expansion

The hospital expands to a full second floor, adding a dedicated Paediatrics ward, Radiology unit, and in-house Laboratory — tripling patient capacity within three years of opening.

2010

IVF & Fertility Centre Opens

Oak becomes the first hospital in the Ashanti Region to offer In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) services — bringing hope to thousands of families who previously had to travel to Accra or abroad for reproductive medicine.

2014

Surgical Centre of Excellence

State-of-the-art surgical theatres are commissioned, equipped for laparoscopic, gynaecological, and general surgery. Oak now performs over 500 surgical procedures annually, with a mortality rate well below national averages.

2016

Five-Floor Facility Completed

A major construction project delivers a purpose-built five-floor hospital building — housing specialist consulting suites, a 24/7 emergency unit, an intensive care unit, and a modern pharmacy on every floor.

2019

50,000th Patient Milestone

Oak Specialist Hospital celebrates serving its 50,000th patient — a milestone that reflects the trust placed in the hospital by patients and families across Ghana and beyond.

2022

NHIS Accreditation & Insurance Expansion

Full NHIS accreditation is achieved, making Oak services accessible to all national health insurance cardholders. Partnerships with seven additional private insurance providers are formalised.

2024 — Today

Digital Transformation & ISO Certification

Oak achieves ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management certification and launches a digital-first patient experience — online booking, WhatsApp consultations, and a full electronic health records system — positioning the hospital for the next 20 years of service.
